Under the name Disclosing Architecture, Het Nieuwe Instituut has launched a six-year programme to improve the architecture collection’s visibility and accessibility, made possible by a one-off investment by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. In addition to conservation, restoration and digitisation projects, over the next few years this will also facilitate research projects in partnership with the Research and Programming departments and the Jaap Bakema Study Centre.

One of the projects within the programme involves the conservation and restoration of a large number of design drawings and photographs. As a result of this work, some archival materials will be unavailable for consultation over the next few years.

The project involves tens of thousands of objects, which will be transferred to restoration studios in phases over the next few years. In addition, the storage facilities are being redesigned to make room for materials that will be rehoused. This means that parts of the collection are unavailable for consultation for a limited period of time.
